How to Register for a Study

If you DO NOT HAVE a UM Login or are not already a member of UMClinicalStudies:

You will need to get a University of Michigan 'Friend' account in order to enter UMClinicalStudies.

Get a University of Michigan 'Friend' account

• Click on the "Enroll as Volunteer" link under Volunteers.
• Click on the 'Get a friend account' link in the 'Don't have a UM login or Friend account?' box.
• A new window will open up for you to set up a 'friend account'
• Enter your email address and press the "request" button
• A email will be sent to your email address containing the registration information
• You will then need to check the email account that you listed. Then visit the link listed in email.
• Click Link "enter your email address and create a password for your account" You will receive a confirmation e-mail message with links to our password changing and password reset web sites in a few moments. You can now access U-M web resources including UMClinicalStudies.

If you HAVE a current U M login or 'Friend' account:

• Click on the "Enroll as Volunteer" link under Volunteers.
• The 'Have a UM login or a Friend's account' box contains the three options:
  • Enroll yourself as a volunteer
  • Enroll a child as a volunteer
  • If you would like to enroll an adult, other than yourself, as a Volunteer
• After clicking on the option of your choice, you will be taken through 4 pages of information about UMClinicalStudies, and will ask for your understanding and consent. Press "continue" at the bottom of each of these pages, until page #4, which will ask you to either "agree" or "not agree" to participate in UMClinicalStudies. After choosing, click "Continue".
• If you agree to participate, you will then be taken through more questions asking your study preferences, contact information, and basic health information. After answering each question, click "continue" to get to the next page. The questions with asterisk by them (*) are required in order to successfully complete enrollment. The others are optional.
• After completing all the required questions, you are successfully enrolled!
• If you would like to answer additional Health Questions please click on the designated links provided. These questions will provide study teams information that may help further determine if you are eligible for a particular research study.
• Thanks for registering with UMClinicalStudies!! Once you have registered, you can View available studies, Edit Account Information and Remove yourself from UMClinicalStudies at any time.
