How to Find a Study that is Recruiting Volunteers

You can find a study that is recruiting volunteers by navigating to the 'Find Studies' link under Volunteers.

There are four ways to search our database of recruiting clinical studies:

Search By Condition
  • On the Find Studies page, choose the link indicating Search By Condition. This link will take you to a page displaying a list of all the UMHS recruiting studies, grouped by Condition.
  • The resulting list will be grouped by Condition. Click on the '+' next to the condition name to display the list of studies that contain the keyword or match the chosen categories.
  • Click on the link of the Condition in which you are interested. This will bring you to a list of all active recruiting studies for this condition.
  • Click on a study's IRB Number. This will bring you to the study details - including, but not limited to, location, compensation, exclusion and inclusion criteria, description, and contact information.
  • Click here to continue to the Search By Condition.
Advanced Search
  • On the Find Studies page, choose the Link indicating Advanced Search. This link will take you to a page that displays various criteria for searching.
  • Advanced Search or Phrase: Enter a keyword in the top keyword search box and click on the 'Search' button to kick off your search.
  • Need help choosing a keyword? Click on the link 'Suggest a Keyword?'. This link will pop up a window displaying suggested keywords. Upon selecting a keyword from this box, it will be automatically populated into the keyword search text box. Click on the 'Search' link.
  • Search by Categories: Another option is to choose from the displayed categories to narrow your search by Principal Investigator, race, ethnicity, location, condition, gender, health, medications, smoking and/or age. You can narrow your search using one or more of these criteria together. The more categories you use, the more narrow or specific the search will become. (yielding a smaller, but more specific list)
  • The resulting list will be grouped by Condition. Click on the '+' next to the condition name to display the list of studies that contain the keyword or match the chosen categories.
  • Click here to continue to the Advanced Search.
