Why does Clinical Research need Volunteers?

Scientists can't improve health care treatment options or improve chances of survival for specific diseases unless we test new treatments against established ones. Serious illnesses rely upon new discoveries in order to save lives. Unfortunately, a significant percentage of clinical and health research studies have ended uncompleted largely because they could not recruit enough patients.

We at UMClinicalStudies know that people are interested in helping advance science, particularly in areas that matters to their loved ones. While the information learned may not help patients today, it will improve the medicine and health information available to future patients - and that's important.

We know that until recently, people weren't sure that health research needed volunteers - and weren't provided the tools to find them. We created UMClinicalStudies to provide the right tools for patients to find clinical and health research studies and connect with the study investigators. We want to provide the opportunity to empower patients and community members with the right tools to improve their awareness and access to clinical health research study information.

The UMClinicalStudies web platform enables patients and their loved ones to find clinical and health research studies that match their health conditions and connect with the study teams.
